Stay With Me

I awoke the next morning with millions of skin cells
Your skin cells
The smell that lingered in my sheets and in my hair was
Your scent
I can't recall now if it was the gaze that leveled me
or the feeling of your hands on my face
Can't remember a time when it was easy to
filter you out
"Stay with me", you say
Your voice soft and sincere
Blue eyes wide and devoid of deceit
You don't even know all the ways to break me yet
Easy with affections
and stringent with emotions usually saves me
So why does it feel like I'm drowning
