Clouds

I think about you in the morning.
When the sun first touches my face.
I think about you and me
and the song we sang out of place.
The song we sang so beautifully,
it made the gods themselves cry.
So they sent a storm down from heaven,
to throw dust in our eyes.
As we saw the storm come
in the valley of the sun.
We held tighter to each other
and proceeded to run.
Hand in hand we ran, so far, so fast, so long.
That we became out of breath
and couldn't sing our song.
Soon we forgot how to sing at all.
The clouds over head started to fall.
Separate and conquer one at a time.
Till you had one over your head,
and I had one over mine.
So you walked away,
down the stairs,
out of sight.
Lost to me in the morning light.
With the scent of rain still in the air.
And this cloud overhead,
I carry everywhere.

  1. how quickly do you write something such as this??? just out of curiosity. i am afraid i have lost my motivation or something. i try yet do not succeed at writing something as amazing. sometimes i can write yet when i do it takes me a long time.

  2. Too quickly. Writing without thinking is the same sin as speaking without thinking. I'm unhappy with this one. I think the imagery is common and it lacks depth. But it was in my head and I faithfully regurgitated, likely avoiding some kind of homework.

  3. You are right, PF. Shall we dissect it?
